An epic-fantasy world feels large when its rules affect work, travel, food, borders and loyalty. Begin with one impossible fact that you can make consistent: a kingdom rests on a living creature, a bridge carries an old oath, or a banner binds opposing armies together. Decide what that fact permits, what it prevents and who has organized power around it. A protagonist with a specific craft can reveal the world through action instead of explanation. Give them a personal reason to preserve the arrangement before asking them to challenge it. Political conflict becomes sharper when several groups have needs that cannot all be satisfied by defeating one enemy. Introduce the magical limit early enough that the climax can transform its use rather than invent a new power. The story starters here include original casts, sample openings and ten-beat outlines. To make a version of your own, change the governing rule, the profession that discovers its cost and the sacrifice required to reshape the world.
