The workspace subscription and AI-provider usage are separate. Your model, context and amount of drafting affect the second bill. The cheapest software tier is not an included AI-book allowance.
Flexibility has a setup cost
Choosing a provider is valuable if you want control. If you want to start from a story idea, consider the time spent managing keys, models and prompts alongside the dollar cost.

Is Novelcrafter free?
Novelcrafter advertises a 21-day trial without a card. AI-provider access and usage remain a separate consideration. The trial lets you assess the workspace before a software subscription.
Does Novelcrafter include AI credits?
Its AI integration uses your own provider key on Hobbyist and above. Provider usage is billed separately from Novelcrafter’s software fee. ImagineYourBook includes managed AI in its book-credit workflow.
Can I use the Scribe plan to generate a book?
Scribe is the writing and planning tier. The advertised AI integration starts with Hobbyist. Do not choose Scribe on the assumption that its price includes AI manuscript generation.
