Lyra currently uses OpenAI GPT-6.1 Sol with high reasoning for core planning and chapter writing. Lyra Max uses GPT-6 Astra, with high reasoning for planning and the opening chapter and medium reasoning for later chapters, at 3x credits. Short formatting tasks, safety checks, and cover images use settings and models suited to their jobs. Existing books retain their original engine configuration.

Yes. Paid plans receive cover recreations as a monthly bonus gift: 4 on Author, 12 on Publisher, 48 on Mogul, and 240 on Disruptor. They do not spend your book credits. Use them across several books or spend several on one book, then switch between the retained versions. Only successful recreations count; failed or safety-blocked attempts use none. The bonus refreshes with your monthly credit cycle and does not roll over.

Yes. Upload a Word, Markdown, text, or HTML manuscript, then describe the result you want in ordinary language. Lyra can add or replace chapters, update facts and examples, change the tone or audience, localize the book, or produce a shorter or expanded edition. Your source stays untouched, and you choose any finished target from 1,000 to 200,000 words.

Rewrite jobs use 1 credit per 5,000 requested output words with Lyra; Lyra Max uses 3× credits. If your instructions preserve substantial sections verbatim and measured generation is more efficient than estimated, we may add a conservative efficiency bonus back to your account automatically after the book finishes.

Yes. In the story brief and prompt fields, you can paste samples of your previous writing along with specific voice directives (such as tone, pacing, vocabulary, and POV). Lyra incorporates your stylistic guidelines across every chapter so the manuscript matches your authentic voice.

Yes. Every finished book downloads as an EPUB alongside the Word file, so you can read it in Apple Books, Kobo, or send it to your Kindle — or open the Word version to edit and format it for print.

Yes. When a series book finishes, Lyra compiles a story bible from the manuscript: characters and arcs, world rules, open threads, and invented terms. The next volume starts with that canon and the previous ending to help the voice and continuity carry forward. You can start from scratch, turn any finished book into Book One, or upload your own manuscript and continue it here. Series bibles are included on every plan and use no extra credits.

Most members write romance and romantasy series. You can also create fantasy, thrillers, mysteries, memoirs, non-fiction, children's stories and educational books. The manuscript is text with a designed cover; for an image book, see the next answer.

Yes. Choose Kindle on your book's page: on a phone, pick the Kindle app in the share sheet; on a computer, we save the EPUB and open Amazon's Send to Kindle page for your store. EPUB also works in Apple Books and Kobo.

You set two dials for each book. Heat: sweet and closed-door, fade to black, or open door, where intimacy stays on the page, written with feeling rather than graphic detail. Spicy scenes: one, a couple or a few. Fully explicit scenes are currently not available. Your tropes, boundaries and dealbreakers carry through every chapter. Characters in intimate scenes are always adults, and books with open-door scenes are for readers 18+.

Create the manuscript in My Library, then make artwork separately in Create Illustrations. Draft bundles cost 1 credit; Final bundles cost 2 credits. Each bundle includes 4 image slots. A new visual anchor uses 1 slot; selecting an existing finished image as the anchor is free. Download the portrait files and place them into your final layout yourself.

Annual plans are paid once for the year and save 38–83% per credit compared with Pay once. You receive your plan allowance each month, and unused monthly credits do not roll over. Separately purchased Pay once credits never expire.

You can switch plans or billing frequency as your publishing cadence changes. Your book credits and bonus cover recreation ceiling follow the active plan immediately. Prior cover uses remain counted for the current cycle; an upgrade adds room, while a downgrade may leave no bonus recreations until the next refresh.
