The Demon Is My Wedding Planner
An adult fire marshal investigating impossible wedding effects falls for the demon planning the events. He wants to leave a business built on perfect promises; she wants a future she cannot inspect in advance.
ImagineYourBook writes a fresh draft from this idea.
How it begins
The centerpiece was on fire, but only in the photographs.
Rosa took another picture.
On her screen, blue flames climbed the white roses. On the table, the roses sat peacefully between six place settings and a card promising an unforgettable evening.
The wedding planner stood beside her with his hands behind his back.
"An atmospheric effect," he said.
"Whose atmosphere?"
"Technically, mine."
Rosa looked at his horns. They were small, polished, and considerably less alarming than the extension lead beneath the tablecloth.
"Switch it off."
He did so immediately.
That surprised her.
Most wedding planners began with an explanation about the bride's vision, followed by a suggestion that fire regulations lacked imagination. This one simply knelt, unplugged the equipment, and moved the cable away from the aisle.
"Cassian Vale," he said, standing.
"Rosa Neri. You have three exits and two of them are wearing curtains."
He closed his eyes briefly.
"I asked for the short curtains."
"You received the dangerous ones."
Together they unhooked the nearest length of fabric. His sleeve rode up as he reached for the pole. Around his wrist ran a line of tiny gold writing.
One word faded while she watched.
He lowered his hand.
"What was that?" she asked.
"A condition of employment."
"Does your employer know you're losing words?"
His smile was very practiced.
"My employer keeps excellent records."
From the next room came the crash of a dropped tray, then a woman laughing so hard she could not apologize. Cassian turned toward the sound with an expression Rosa could not immediately name.
Envy, perhaps.
Or hunger.
A groom appeared in the doorway holding a broken cake stand.
"Could we just put the cake on a plate?"
Cassian stared at him.
Then, slowly, he smiled without practice.
"Yes," he said. "I think we absolutely could."

Outline and characters
Develop this idea
Rosa's inspections should stay independent from her private affection, with reassignment where needed. Cassian's demon nature can shape imaginative logistics without making him inherently cruel. Build the contract's memory cost through specific missing moments rather than an abstract threat. The ending works when a smaller, imperfect celebration feels more desirable than a spectacular event purchased with somebody else's freedom. Make professional reassignment visible when their courtship begins.
